Senator Joe Biden Biography
Senator Joe Biden is the chosen Vice-presidential running mate of the Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. The announcement was made public in August 23, 2008. Senator Joe Biden is one of the veterans in the Senate; he successfully made it to the Senate for more than 30 years and he is one of the leading experts in terms of International affairs.
Senator Joe Biden was born as Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. at Scranton Pennsylvania on November 20, 1942. Joe Biden has some Irish Catholic heritage and blood running through his veins. He was the eldest son out of four children; he was born to the couple Joe Sr., an automobile salesman, and to Jean. Most of his early youth days were spent in the Scranton, until at the age of ten when the family has decided to move to Castle County, Delaware. As a little kid, Joe Biden experienced a discomforting speech impediment. He received his early education in the Archmere Academy Claymont, Delaware – one of the preparatory Catholic schools. In 1965, he got his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Delaware and after three years he has finally received his law degree in the University of Syracuse in New York.
Joe Biden immediately returned to Delaware right after he graduated from law school, where he worked as one of the trial lawyers in one of the law firms in Wilmington; he served as one of the lawyers who defended the public. Soon after that, he started immersing himself in political arena, and in 1970 to 1972, he was given the chance to serve as one of the New Castle’s County councils.
Joe Biden was first elected to the Senate in 1972 at a very young age of 29, which gave him the title at the history of the Senate as the fifth youngest senator to ever take seat in the Senate. His political success was sweet for he was able to beat his closet political rival who was a two-term Republican Senator in the name of James Caleb Boggs. He was re-elected in the senate for 5 times in a row which made him the longest-serving member of the Senate that represents the State of Delaware.
In 1966, Joe Biden married Neilia Hunter. In 1972 though, after his first election into the Senate, his wife together with other three children met a tragic car accident which killed the mother and the infant daughter, Naomi, immediately while they are shopping for Christmas. Luckily, his two sons, Beau and Hunter, though were both seriously injured were able to make it to recovery. In January 1973, just weeks after the catastrophic accident, Joe Biden was affirmed into the Senate office from the bedside of his two injured sons.
At first he contemplated on resigning from his post to take good care of his devastated family, but instead he started commuting from his home to his office and vice-versa every day, riding the public train transportation, which he still does up to the present.
Joe Biden married his current wife – Jill Tracy Jacobs in 1977, to whom he has a daughter, Ashley.
